doctors are concerned that 50 year old
Sarah has had a bleed on the brain after
she suffered a sudden Thunderclap
headache after collapsing at work hi CT

the ready room fine
Sarah's husband Adam is in the
relative's room
are you Sarah's husband my name is Karen
I'm one of the Emergency Care nurses in
recess just wanted to give you a quick
update we've taken her straight for a CT
scan so we can see if there's anything
going on in her head all right I'll be
out to update you as soon as possible
okay
there was no warning it just happened
out of the blue you don't expect to see
your wife having difficulty breathing
and seizing she had been a strong one in
the family
and all of a sudden it's been your life
is turned upside down
she's rubbing all over the championship
am I gonna manage to get that I've
stopped it because it's it's all over
the shove
Sarah is having an emergency CT scan of
her brain to establish the cause of the
Thunderclap headache
so Rob just put your arms down doctors
are concerned she may have a
life-threatening bleed on the brain
Sarah
give me your arms
give me your arms that's great Sarah
she just deserts about 86 it's gone back
to 87.
I'll get ready to go okay okay
so it was always an outgoing person
we met on 18 30 holiday in falaraki
I was with my best friend Mick
Sarah come over there by herself
at the time I wouldn't even go on the
plane by myself let alone go on holiday
we're on one of those bar crawls and
bumped into each other
she was really pretty blondish
highlighted hair lovely figure
that I was shy and you know wasn't
particularly good at talking to a girl
for more than five minutes
but with Sarah I could
and I thought oh I'd like to see her
again but my bottle went
luckily she gave me a call and it just
went from there
Sarah nice and still don't move
soon after that I knew I really love
let go
that's it there we go we're nearly
finished okay
when we met I was still at home
but she left home when she was 16.
she knew a lot more about life than I
did
we moved in together
it was a bit of a shocker because I had
been sheltered quite a bit I couldn't
even you know I could cook a beans on
toast
but Sarah was teaching me
life
in 1993
and soon afterwards actually um Jacob
came along
the family was perfect
but then real life Came Crashing Down
she's moving around the shop
she's got a big subarachnoid but she
won't keep still because obviously she's
not with it
man if she gets anything useful
we've got something I mean sure she's
got blood
if there's lots of blood in the brain
and that pressure is increasing there's
only one place your brain can swell and
that's down into your spinal column
when that happens everything that's
controlled automatically such as your
heart beating and your breathing stops
if that's happened it can be
unsurvivable
Sarah has always been the main
breadwinner
oh I've had plenty of jobs but I've
never been ambitious
I can hold my hands up to that
Sarah has worked in banking
she was earning more money than I was
for a long long time
good money but she was good at a job
so I was very thankful
it was Sarah's top priority that we had
to make life for the kids as good as we
could possibly make it
unfortunately in 2010 everything changed
can we get the husband in for a short
time
you're right
foreign
from the bank
at that time jobs were being scaled down
because I think the banks were in not
such good graces
they were well over subscribed with
employees so people had to go and
unfortunately Sarah was one of them
it was seriously scary
with the two boys in the house to pay
for
we had struggled
you wonder from week to week if you can
pay your mortgage
we took loans out max credit cards
Sarah was a bit lost it's never good
getting into a run especially when you
lose your job
because you can go down a rabbit hole
you started to think she was not good
enough
she wasn't sleeping too well
she was just really down
she used to be strong so it was
difficult to see her like that
doctors now have the results of Sarah's
CT scan
hi there hello is this Adam I am here my
name is in here you want to grab a seat
tomorrow yeah
okay so do you know what's what's been
happening
uh apart from her collection at work not
a lot no okay does she recognize you
um Ivan Sarah
you know I am
she's not all there yeah
when something like that happens we
extremely worried that something has
happened in the brain yeah
so the images are not great
they show that there is amount of blood
in the bracket
uh we have
send images to our Neurosurgical team
and they agree with that and and she
just needed some treatment which she's
having and she's going to go to the
Neurosurgical Ward where she will have
another CT scan just to show where the
aneurysm is
and so they can actually either clip it
or do something about it
and they will give her extra more
treatment that that's needed
if you need anything ask a question just
let us know
brain is like a computer hard drive it
has the ability to store vast amounts of
information in forms of memories and
your
thought processes it's the way you think
about things even the way you view the
world
if something goes wrong with it you
don't have that ability to necessarily
make memories or recall loved ones
they're wiring everything starts to go
wrong
it's scary seeing someone you love have
an injury to their brain
because you don't know what the outcome
will be
CT scans have revealed Sarah has an
aneurysm in her brain
hello
they reckon she's had a bleed on the
brain
yeah she's a little bit out of it yeah
so we've got my redundant
I didn't have a doubt that she could get
another job but she underestimates
herself a lot of the time
so I had to step up and make him
understand she's more than capable of
doing it
I'll speak to you later yeah bye
after a while her confidence came back
she started working in finance HR
and then the Sarah on you come back
again
she gives her all when she's working
but she loves what she's doing
and everything she does is for the
family
I'm not too sure what my life would have
been like without her but I know she
made me a better person
we've got a bed for her intensive care
okay so we're going to get ready and get
it transferred up okay all right
I love her more than anything
but I probably don't say it through
enough times
and tell her that I couldn't live
without her
she wasn't aware of where she was wasn't
aware of who I was
it was really really difficult
not knowing what was happening to me
it's um it is a really weird feeling
I can remember very little of being in
intensive care
but a couple of days after that I was
obviously aware that Adam was with me
it meant everything
I am lacking the site in one eye so I
need another operation to resolve that
Adam's been with me throughout is my
best friend love him to bits it's just
amazing to have him and his support
um with me
